Kicked off on June 20–22, 2025, at ICE BSD in South Tangerang, Banten, Nusatic Nusapet 2025 returned as Southeast Asia’s premier ornamental fish and pet expo. Over 100 communities from Indonesia and across Asia participated in this grand gathering, which drew tens of thousands of visitors eager to explore the aquatic showcase.
More than 20,000 entries of ornamental fish competed across 20 separate contests—from koi and guppy to discus and arowana—underscoring Nusatic’s scale and diversity.
Arowana Competition: The King Returns
No ornamental fish event in Indonesia is complete without the majestic arowana—a species long revered for its elegance, symbolism, and price tag. The Arowana Championship at Nusatic 2025 drew elite entries from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and even China.
The competition featured multiple classes:
- Red Arowana
- Super Red
- Golden Crossback
- Platinum Arowana
Judging was conducted by a panel of international experts, with criteria including scale shine, body proportion, fin extension, swimming grace, and color depth. The grand champion, a deep red specimen from Kalimantan, was later valued at over USD 20,000, drawing attention from collectors and export agents alike.
The arowana segment also featured educational talks on breeding, genetics, and safe transportation for global shipping.
Discus Show: Art in Motion
On the opposite end of the ornamental spectrum was the Discus Competition, which captivated audiences with its color explosion. Often called the “kaleidoscope fish,” discus entries came in varieties such as:
- Turquoise
- Pigeon Blood
- Checkerboard
- Albino Leopard
Discus competitions were judged on:
- Color uniformity and vibrancy
- Fin shape and symmetry
- Swimming behavior
- Tank cleanliness and fish conditioning
Interestingly, discus breeders also participated in live demos showcasing DIY breeding setups, temperature regulation, and feeding routines.
Tiger fish Takes Center Stage at Nusatic 2025
For the first time, Indonesia hosted a Tiger fish Contest—a milestone in recognizing these iconic predators of freshwater aquariums. Tiger fish (Datnoid) are adored for their striking black-and-gold stripes and commanding, predatory presence.
